The Context — The History
Ecclesiastes 7 explores wisdom’s limits and the mixed reality of life. The Teacher urges sober reflection over quick celebration, teaching that how a matter finishes often reveals more than its promising start, and patient humility outlasts proud impulsiveness.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The chapter advises that sorrow can sharpen the heart and that the day of death may teach more than birth. Amid paradoxes about wisdom and folly, the Teacher values endurance: a matter’s end surpasses its beginning, and patience excels pride.
