The Context — The History
Naaman was commander of Aram’s army, a respected outsider with leprosy. Elisha’s simple command to wash in the Jordan challenged pride and national prejudice, showing that God’s healing often comes through humble obedience to an unimpressive word.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Naaman expected dramatic healing from Elisha and initially scorned washing in Israel’s modest river. His servants persuaded him to try. After seven dips in the Jordan, his skin was restored like a young boy’s, and he recognized the God of Israel.
