The Context — The History
Thessalonians grieved deaths of believers before Christ’s return. Paul comforts them with vivid apocalyptic imagery of personal, vocal, triumphant coming and resurrection priority.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Paul urges grief with hope, not ignorance. The Lord will descend with command, archangel’s voice, and trumpet; dead in Christ rise first, then living believers meet the Lord.
