The Context — The History
Isaiah 55 invites exiles to come freely to God’s banquet and listen to his word. Babylonian wisdom prized human strategy; Israel learned that divine plans operate on a higher scale than human calculation.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
God offers forgiveness and joy without price, then compares his thoughts and ways to heavens above earth. Human plans must yield to God’s greater, often surprising purposes.
