The Context — The History
Proverbs 10 contrasts the way of the righteous and the wicked in short, memorable lines for daily life. In communities bound by kinship and covenant, unchecked hatred escalated quarrels, while love pursued reconciliation rather than exposing every fault.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The chapter offers dozens of vivid comparisons about speech, work, and character. This proverb addresses relational strife directly: hatred provokes ongoing conflict, but love acts to cover offenses, not by ignoring evil but by seeking peace and restoration.
